CHRISTMAS CHILDREN (FROM "SCROOGE")

In 1970, English composer and playwright Leslie Bricusse penned the Oscar-nominated soundtrack for the film Scrooge (later turned into a stage musical in 1992), based on Charles Dickens’s classic A Christmas Carol. Bob Cratchit has five children in this musical version of the story, and after winning reluctant permission from Scrooge to take Christmas Day off work, he goes window-shopping with two of them, Kathy and Tiny Tim.

Singing “Christmas Children” together, the three of them delight in the anticipation and childlike wonder of Christmas magic as they relish the coming celebration. And as Mr. Cratchit observes, Christmas isn’t just for the small ones, but is “for children young and old.”
